Central Coast Railroad Festival

The San Luis Obispo Railroad Museum will host the annual Central Coast Railroad Festival on October 7, 8 and 9, 2016 to celebrate the rich history of trains and tracks on the Central Coast. Several locations will be open with displays all weekend.

The event begins at 10:00 am Friday October 7th. There will be an afternoon Wine-Rail Excursion to Pomar Junction's "Train Wreck Friday". Art After Dark at the Jack House in San Luis Obispo, will feature Railroad Art by Artist Eric Smith. The City-County Library will host running model train layouts by the Orange County N-Gineers and continue running throughout the Festival.

Saturday features a bike tour of the Pacific Coast Railway route to Avila at 9:00 am starting at the Museum. At 10:00 am the event continues featuring food, wine tasting by Pomar Junction Winery, a railroad swap meet, children's activities, railroad photography, art and the Museum's world-class model railroad. The event will feature speakers on local rail history and current operations by the Santa Maria Valley Railroad, the railroad's coming to Santa Margarita and the railroad's influence in developing Arroyo Grande and more.

Saturday at the Paso Robles Pioneer Museum, there will be a display of the Guinness Book of World Records of Z Scale Trains as well as running Z Scale train layouts.

Sunday the SLO Railroad Museum opens at Noon and the event will feature private layout tours of the Central Coast and speakers on the Bishop's Peak Spur of the Pacific Coast Railroad.
