David and Robert Team Up for Railroad Songs, Films and Fun in San Luis Obispo, California

David Holt, a Grammy Award winning musician and media personality, and Robert C. Van Camp, the creator and producer of the Emmy-Award Winning Public Television series, "Great Scenic Railway Journeys" will present special programs and make personal appearances during three days of the Central Coast Railroad Festival - October 10 to 12, 2013.



Thursday morning, October 10th
Take a memorable private railcar trip with David Holt and Robert Van Camp up the scenic California Coast from Los Angeles to San Luis Obispo abroad the vintage Silver Splendor Vista Dome Car! David will perform songs along the way and both David and Robert will interact with the guests. Meals included. Limited to 44 guests. More info...

Friday evening, October 11th
"Rhythm of the Railroads" This show will feature railroad songs and stories performed by David Holt as well as the screening of his and Robert's favorite railroad segments over the years. Also Robert Van Camp will have a "Best Of" compilation of some of the most scenic railroad footage he has captured from all around the world as David plays some of his songs from his Album, "When The Train Comes Along". Robert and David will also talk about the series and answer audience questions. This special event will take place at 7:30pm at San Luis Obispo's Historic Fremont Theatre which features a huge HD screen!

Saturday afternoon, October 12th
Robert Van Camp will greet fans and autograph copies of the most recent Great Scenic Railway Journeys special, "Trains Around North America" and their historic "Guide to North America's Tourist Railways and Museums" directory. Signing from 1:00 - 2:00pm during the Grand Opening Festivities at the San Luis Obispo Railroad Museum.

Two Special Events on Saturday Evening, October 12th
Both at the Historic 100 Year Old San Luis Obispo Masonic Lodge

• VIP meet and greet Reception with David Holt and Robert Van Camp at 6:30 followed by a program from Robert entitled "Celebrating North Americas Tourist Railways and Museums" which is a tribute to the men and women that help preserve and present our railroad heritage and keep it alive today for all to enjoy. Limited to 100 VIP Guests who can also attend David's concert which follows as part of their reception ticket.
• "Train Songs, Hobo Secrets and Tales of the Rails" - This 8:00pm concert will feature a wide variety of Appalachian and railroad music and stories from David Holt. For over forty years, David has been collecting and performing the songs and stories of the Blue Ridge Mountains. He has learned this treasure trove of music directly from musical greats like Roy Acuff, Grandpa Jones, Tommy Jarrell, Etta Baker and toured the country with the legendary Doc Watson for 15 years. Special Guests are now being lined up to open the show.

Thanks to the South Coast Railroad Museum for facilitating the arrangements for our Silver Splendor Excursions and providing the history guides for the legs between Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo.
