Loren Nicholson was honored today at a ceremony and reception held at the SLO Dallidet Adobe and Gardens (1185 Pacific Street, SLO). Loren Nicholson is a Distinguished professor at Cal Poly; successful published writer of six books, including "Rails Across The Ranchos," featuring the Southern Pacific railroad line; noted San Luis Obispo County Historian; and local railroad aficionado.
Loren Nicholson received a lantern plaque.
CCRRF's director Curtis Reinhardt opened the program.
SLO Model Railroad Association President Jim Keating was today's emcee.
Mayor Dave Romero presented a City proclamation.
Brad LaRose, president of the SLO Railroad Museum.
Craig Kincaid presented a special song for the ocassion.
Ken Schwartz, ex-SLO Mayor, spoke.
Joan Sullivan thanked Loren.
Joseph Carotenuti is also a writer of history.
Gary Hoving, President of the South County Historical
Society, addressed the audience.
