Port San Luis

Historic Harford Pier history walk and presentation by Brian Craig Kreowski, President of the History Center of San Luis Obispo County. Craig discussed the history of Harford Pier, the Pacific Coast Railway operations on the Pier and the Pier's creator John Harford.


These first two pictures are of a mural by Michael Laboon at the new Gateway Building at the port. The first locomotive to run on the pier was Avila #1.










In the process of preparing the area for the new Gateway Building, a section of rail from the original Pacific Coast Railway was unearthed.












The Pacific Coast Railway came out a tunnel in the vicinity of the outcrops at right. The tunnel ultimately collapsed and has been covered over by time and nature.
